Program Overview

 

The OANHSS Administrator Certification Program, combined with the appropriate education and work experience, is recognized by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care as one of the programs accepted as equivalent preparation for administrators in long term care homes.  Leaders and experts in the field specially designed this program to help you better understand your business, meet daily challenges and prepare you for tomorrow.

Who Should Take This Program?

 

This program is targeted to individuals working in the long term care home sector (non-profit and for-profit) and to staff working in other areas of long term care, such as community services or supportive housing. It will be of interest to those who are relatively new to or who are aspiring to administrator positions, as well as those who have significant long term care experience.

How to Apply

 

Candidates for admission into the Administrator Certification Program must be able to provide evidence of acceptable qualifications in areas of education and work experience -- see page 4 of Full Brochure (pdf format) for details.

 


 

Obtaining Certification

 

Successful completion of the program includes participation at all program sessions and achievement of at least a minimum passing grade in a written case study assignment*.  Guidelines will be provided regarding the case study assignment.  Once certified you will receive:

  • A letter confirming your certification.

  • A plaque with your name on it identifying you as a certified administrator.

  • A copy of your marked case study.

  • Information and logbook regarding recertification. 

* Note:  Case Study Requirement - participants will be required to write and pass a case study assignment in conjunction with this course to earn the administrator certification.  Case studies will be due Friday, April 4, 2008.
