Bullying: It’s Not Only in the Schoolyard

Whatever happened to that kid who used to steal your lunch money? He or she may have become the workplace menace or your organization’s most dreaded client. Often, bullies don’t outgrow their bad behaviour – they just take it with them into the adult world.

Adult bullying can take the form of a physically or verbally abusive client and/or family member, manager, co-worker, volunteer or outside service provider. Bullying expert Denise Koster will walk you through important issues, such as the cost of bullying in the workplace, the differences between harassment, discrimination and bullying, profiles of the bully and the target and how to rid your organization of this inappropriate behaviour.

Objectives:

• Learn how to identify bullying in the workplace.

• Understand the impact bullying has on individuals and the organization.

• Learn the importance of creating an abuse-free living and working environment.

Denise Koster is the founder of Koster Consulting & Associates. As a certified instructor in non-violence crisis intervention, a conflict resolution specialist and an honours graduate of the International School of Private Investigation and Security, she has a unique approach to dealing with violence.
