Get Your Mock On – Sharing Outcomes of a Mock Pandemic Exercise
(Management and Operations)
Would your pandemic plan pass the test of a real threat? The Region of Peel set out to answer that question by simulating a pandemic influenza outbreak and came away with valuable information on gaps and how to address them.
Find out how they used a mock pandemic planning tabletop exercise, tailored specifically for long term care settings, to test their plan, illustrate deficits, increase pandemic awareness, and provide training for staff. The overview will include the project background, objectives, benefits, deliverables, success criteria and the key assumptions. Take away the important lessons learned that are applicable to a broad range of providers.
Objectives:
Understand the importance of testing your pandemic plan to identify gaps and opportunities to enhance resident safety and ensure business continuity.
Identify deficits common to long term care pandemic plans and how to foster communications with community partners to address these issues.
Learn how to apply lessons learned from the Peel pandemic exercise to other emergency planning in long term care.
