A Road to Action – Meeting Mental Health Challenges in Long Term Care
The challenge of managing residents with mental health and behaviour issues in long term care homes cannot be ignored. Despite a system that is often less than ideal, geriatric mental health professionals across the country are introducing new approaches to address the needs of such residents. Learn from leading professionals and contribute to a collaborative brainstorming session about the needs of residents with mental health and behaviour challenges. Explore the current developments in Canada and Ontario and analyze how Ontario stacks up. Identify the responses taken to address the needs and examine the support available to homes and the gaps that still exist. Be part of the drive for change that will benefit residents, homes and the health care system as a whole.
