We are pleased to invite you to join us for our 2009
Annual Meeting and Convention. This year’s Then, Now, Next
theme allows us to look at where we’ve come from, where we are and
where we are going as OANHSS celebrates 90 years as an association.
Exceptional speakers and timely educational sessions will challenge you
to think about doing things in new ways and inspire you with fresh
perspectives, creative thinking and practical ideas. We continually hear
from members that networking is the number one reason for attending
convention and this year’s event will offer plenty of
opportunities to reconnect with friends and colleagues. We look forward
to seeing you at the convention!

Then, Now, Next: Potential Potholes and Pratfalls on the Road
to Tomorrow Tuesday May 5, 2009 - 8:45 AM
–10:00 AM
The times they are a-changing. Aging babyboomers, increases in the cost
of care and the belief that social resources going to frail elders are
resources denied to children andother vulnerable populations will mean
changes in policy, but what is unclear is the direction of those
changes.
Dr. Charles D Phillips will discuss what thefuture might look like for
the seniors’ care and services sectors, including the implications
for the not-for-profit sector. With a special emphasis on the specific
dynamics at work in Canadian long term care policy, he promises to offer
some thought-provoking ideas.
Dr. Charles Phillips, Ph.D., M.P.H. is a gerontologist and public health
professionals pecializing in long term care policy and health services
research. He is currently a professor in the Department of Health
Policyand Management in the School of Rural Public Health at the Texas
